So, this is probably going to take away some of my "cred" as an informed record-store employee, but if you would've asked me about Animal Collective last week I probably would've shrugged my shoulders and said "eh, they're alright." To be fair, I've never really given any of their albums the listens they probably deserve, but I'd never really heard a song that made me want to delve into their discography. However, all this changed a few days ago, when I decided to listen to their newest album Merriweather Post Pavillion. The opening song had me mildly interested and by the second song (my personal favorite) I was hooked. Being a new Animal Collective fan, I can't really expand on how this album is different or similar to previous ones, but what I can say is that it's reeeaaaaaalllllllly good.
If you haven't had a chance to check the album out yet, come down to the store when you have some free time and check it out on our listening station. Or, better yet, just buy it and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home. You will be glad you did.
