WE THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW

The CWMA has its final show with Ben Kweller this Friday, February 13 and will feature 2 of the top vote winners: The Furs and Neon Trees. Band of Annuals and Form of Rocket were also top vote winners but they (sadly) can't play the show on Friday - although you can still vote for them if you want. BUT to vote you must go to the show! Check out tomorrow's new issue of City Weekly for full details and their Staff Picks.

Be sure to get your tickets from us for only $16, the show is at The Depot (21+) - and is sure to be a good time and, as always, is a great way to support our incredible local music scene.

AND here are three really important things we want to you to know about. Please pay close attention.

1. We will be giving away a free pair of tickets to see Alela Diane with Blitzen Trapper at Kilby Court on March 13. To be entered to win you must purchase her new record, To Be Still (out February 17). We'll select a winner on February 23 - so get yours early - or better yet, just pre-order it and get registered for the contest that way!

2. Laura Gibson's beautiful new album, Beast of Seasons, will be released on CD and LP February 24. The first folks to purchase her record will receive one free ticket to her show on March 9 at Urban Lounge (21+, with Blind Pilot) while supplies last. To make sure you get your free ticket come in and pre-order your copy of the album right away! (PS: Laura is adding a new song from her album to her myspace page each day. And beginning next week, the folks at NPR will be streaming Beasts of Seasons, in it's entirety, from their website! AND don't forget she is playing an in-store set at Slowtrain before her show at Urban.)

3. Last...Please join us this Wednesday, February 11, at Urban Lounge (21+) for the Musee Mecanique show. Their debut album was a stand-out in 2008, their live shows are flawless, and they even received a pleasant review in the all-mighty Pitchfork. Read it here! You don't want to miss this show. Tickets at Slowtrain...
