HELP A MUSICIAN IN NEED

Help a musician in need...save some cash while you're at it.

Brian Perez (member of Musee Mecanique in Portland, and friend of ours) has a torn ACL and no insurance. You can find his story by clicking here. Many of the musicians we all love don't have insurance - the same as many of you, I'm sure - and at Slowtrain we feel really inclined to help Brian get the cost of his surgery covered. A very generous surgeon has already agreed to cover most of the cost. Now if the rest of us can all pitch in just $5 or $10 (or more if you can spare it!) we can make Brian's life just a little better. And in turn, hope that the community would take care of us if we were ever put into the same difficult situation.

Brian's paypal info is in the attached link or by clicking here. Once you make your donation, print the receipt and bring it in to the store for 15% off your next purchase! (some limitations apply to the sale, ask at the counter if you have questions) This discount is good through August 31, 2009. And we may extend it if it turns out Brian needs more help. So stay tuned...

And seriously, thanks for helping. We all could use some support every now and then - your donation (no matter how small) will really mean the world to Brian.

Wow, the fact that you're willing to help a guy in need is seriously awesome. It makes me sick to think of all the people in this country who don't have access to health care because of lack of insurance. It doesn't matter how good the health care is in this country, if you don't have insurance, you can't afford it! Here's to healthcare reform!

Thanks, Jonny. Here is a great article about Healthcare Reform and myths. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/21/AR2009082101778.html
