Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx - ‘We’re New Here’ Album Transmissions

HTML5 Powered Mobile Broadcasting starts today at Slowtrain!

On 21st February, Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx release their ‘We’re New Here’ album. The album sees Jamie xx reworking thirteen tracks from Gil’s 2010 ‘I’m New Here’ album sessions and features the singles ‘NY Is Killing Me’ and ‘I’ll Take Care Of U’.

To celebrate the forthcoming release, fans will be given the opportunity to hear the album a full 12 days before release: Today, ‘We’re New Here’ album transmitters located around the world will be turned on and will begin broadcasting the record and Slowtrain just happens to be one of these lucky locations to stream it! Just stop in the shop and log onto www.werenewhere.com/radio using a smart phone (iPhone / Android / touch screen Blackberry). The album will be broadcast 24 hours a day, but can only be heard at the exact transmitter locations.

The transmitters use cutting edge HTML5 technology which enables the web app to determine your location and stream the album direct to your phone, utilizing the advanced features available on modern smart phones.

Meanwhile, ‘We’re New Here’ is available to pre-order now on various formats including a Vinyl Box Set which will feature the album on pink heavyweight vinyl, an instrumental version of the album on green heavyweight vinyl, CDs of both the album and instrumental album and 2 limited edition photographic prints.
